What started as a playful experiment, generating comic-style AI art for fun, has turned into something much more meaningful for me: a way to document every day life and to reflect on, and express experiences that are often hard to put into words.
I use AI image generation as part of a journaling process, blending creativity with self reflection. Sometimes the images reflect literal moments in my life: a story I can't capture with a photograph, a strange new symptom, or a quiet moment in the garden. Other times, they represent sensations that don’t translate easily into language—pain, dissociation, overstimulation, or the peculiar floatiness of vertigo. Visual art gives me a way to make those internal states visible, and AI lets me iterate quickly and stay in flow.
The slideshow below traces my journey with image generation, beginning with comic book-style art and evolving into a more introspective tool. It touches on my experience with autism, especially sensory overload, shutdowns, and visual thinking, and dives into the physical reality of living with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), including proprioceptive challenges, chronic pain, and the disorienting effects of vertigo. It also explores how physical therapy has changed my quality of life in real, tangible ways.
These images don’t always tell a clear story. But they hold pieces of one.
